David Bowie is not playing 2009 Coachella Festival, despite tabloid claims that he is.

It was claimed today (January 26) that the singer would revive his Ziggy Stardust persona for a performance at this year's Californian event.

However a spokesperson for Bowie has told that the singer has no plans to play, according to NME.com.

The line-up for the even has yet to be announced.
