U2 Set to Make a Bid for London Recording Studio
U2 are set to make a bid for a London studio where they recorded their new album.
Reports today suggested that the Irish rockers are keen to buy Olympic Studios in Barnes, which was recently put on the market by EMI.
The band said the studio, which once graced the talents of Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, had proved inspiring while they recorded 'No Line On The Horizon'.
A source told The Sun: "Bono, The Edge and the rest of the band really enjoyed their time in Olympic. They knuckled down and really responded well to the place’s atmosphere.
"They already have their own studios in Dublin but feel that Olympic could be a very wise investment.
"They’re totting up some figures at the moment. If the maths works out there’s every chance they’ll put an offer in."
The Rolling Stones were one of the first bands to use the studios when they moved to Barnes in 1966 and two years later, Led Zeppelin recorded their self-titled first album at the studios.
