Dr. Dre To Release "Solar System Inspired" Album

Dr. Dre is recording an instrumental album inspired by the solar system, the rapper/producer has unveiled.

He, whose real name Andre Young, explained that the LP will be "my interpretation of what each planet sounds like", reports Vibe.com.

"An instrumental album is something I've been wanting to do for a long time," Dr. Dre said. "I have the ideas for it. I want to call it 'The Planets'. I don't even know if I should be saying this, but fuck it. It's just my interpretation of what each planet sounds like."

"I've been studying the planets and learning the personalities of each planet. I've been doing this for about two years now just in my spare time so to speak. I wanna do it in surround sound. It'll have to be in surround sound for Saturn to work," he added.

However, The release date for the record has yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Dre is also set to release his long-overdue LP, 'Detox', his first full-length studio effort since 1999's '2001'.

Originally due out in 2004, the album has been delayed a number of times, with the rapper/producer now admitting it wont be out till 2011.

Kings Of Leon Announce New Album Release Date And Title

Kings Of Leon have confirmed the title and release date of their new album, the follow-up to 2008's LP 'Only By The Night'.

The new record is set to be released on October 18 in the UK and October 19 in the US and the band have called their fifth studio effort 'Come Around Sundown'.

the band once again working together with producers Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King, recording sessions for the album took place at New York's Avatar Studios.

Meanwhile, Kings Of Leon are set to return to the UK to headline V Festival on August 21-22.

REM Recording New "Old School" Album

REM are recording an "old school"-style album, the Posies' frontman Ken Stringfellow has revealed.

Stringfellow who in the past has toured and worked with the Georgia band, recently met up with bassist Mike Mills in his current home city of Paris, where he heard the rough recordings of the proposed follow-up to 2008's 'Accelerate'.

"It's sounding really great, very old school," Stringfellow told Nme.com. "The first track had vocals which were mixed super low which I couldn't understand and I was like, 'Yes, a return to form.' Mike was on about pushing the vocals up and I was like, 'No, don't do it.'"

Jacknife Lee will produce REM's 15th as-yet-untitled studio album. Lee also worked on the group's 'Accelerate' album.

"What's cool about classic REM is that you have an electric and acoustic guitar coming along like The Byrds," Stringfellow said. "There's a lot of that in there, there's some piano songs too, but I didn't hear a lot of crazy, freaky keyboards and vintage drum machines in there like the period when I was with them."

He added: "It had a very live feel. It's really quite beautiful, some of the recordings were a little bit dark and had just the kind of murk that you would hear on an old REM record. I thought that was a great thing to bring back."

The new REM album is expected to be released in 2011.

Aretha Franklin Cancels Two Free New York Shows

The soul legend had broken her ribs made him to postpone the gigs...

Aretha Franklin has broken her two ribs in a fall, the accident forced him to cancel two free New York shows.

The soul legend had been expected to play two gigs in Brooklyn, at Wingate Park on August 9 and as part of the Annual Seaside Summer Concert Series on August 12.

As well as the broken ribs, the fall resulted in abdominal pain for the singer, reports the Detroit News.

However, Franklin was planning to reschedule the shows soon.

"I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island," she said. "Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August," said the singer.

Fucked Up have lined up a string of upcoming headlining dates of US tour.

Beginning appearance at Club Hell in Providence, RI on September 6, before it, the band will play at ATP Festival in Monticello, NY on September 5. The Canadian-hardcore group will wrap the dates in Miami, FL on September 14.

On the outing, the band will also support Public Enemy in Charlotte, NC on September 12 and play at Matador Records' 21st birthday event in October, along with Guided By Voices and Pavement.

Meanwhile, Fucked Up will play London's Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on August 9, followed by performances at the Standon Calling, Hevy and Rebellion festivals in the UK.

Vampire Weekend Added Second London Date On Upcoming UK Tour

The group will play Alexandra Palace on November 3...

Vampire Weekend have added a second night London show to their forthcoming UK tour in winter.

The group, who are set to play at Alexandra Palace on December 2, will also play at the venue on the following day on December 3.

Playing in support of their second album 'Contra', which was released earlier this year, the band begin the dates in Blackpool on November 25.

Mogwai Set For Early 2011 UK Live Shows

The Scottish group set for February next year...

Mogwai have announced plans to hit the road for a UK tour early next year.

The Scottish five-piece will be embarking on a series of dates, kicking off at Bournemouth O2 Academy on February 17.

The band have also announced that they are heading into the studio with drummer Paul Savage for the follow-up to their 2008 album 'The Hawk Is Howling'. Savage previously worked on the band's 1997 debut 'Mogwai Young Team'.

Deadmau5 Collapses Onstage At Washington Gig

Canadian DJ was forced to cancel his upcoming shows...

Deadmau5 collapsed on stage when he was performing at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC.

Known as wearing a giant red cartoon mouse head, the DJ was identified suffering from exhaustion and vomiting.

Canadian DJ was taken to hospital by the venue’s medical team, where he was placed under supervision.

Deadmau5 has had force to cancel next nine show dates, including appearance at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival.

Dates which Deadmau5 has had to cancel are listed below, although it is thought they will be rescheduled.
